Few dresses are as famous as the Versace design that Jennifer Lopez wore to the Grammys in 2000, a frock so special that it was actually responsible for the development of Google Images. And, last night, Donatella Versace brought the creation back to life, sending an updated version of the design down the catwalk on Amber Valletta, the model who originally wore the dress on the catwalk for spring/summer 2000.

The sheer plunging green dress was given an update for the new season with a heart print and a slightly fuller skirt. It still featured an incredibly low plunging V-neck and a similar embellished clip where the dress gathers just below the naval.

The original design was worn on the catwalk by Valletta in September 1999 before Lopez chose the dress for the 2000 Grammy Awards. The red-carpet moment garnered so much media attention and so many Internet searches that it helped Google to realise that they needed to develop the option for an image search.

The green plunging dress was not the only piece recreated from Versace's archives in the collection either. The house also designed a dress inspired by the famous safety-pin frock that Gianni Versace designed for Elizabeth Hurley to wear to the 1994 premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral.

The pre-autumn/winter 2019 version is made of a sheer material and features sleeves, but is otherwise very similar to another of Versace's most famous red-carpet moments. For pre-AW18, the house designed a dress which actress Jennifer Lawrence wore that was similar in structure, but did not feature the safety-pin detail.
