Part of what makes La La Land so captivating is that it infuses the charm of Old Hollywood into current life in Los Angeles. That notion holds true in the film's musical numbers and technicolor tributes, but it's most obvious in the costumes, from Emma Stone's flowy vintage dresses to Ryan Gosling's skinny tie and wing-tipped shoes. Costume designer Mary Zophres, who already dressed the stars in retro garb for Gangster Squad in 2013, styled Stone and Gosling once again for this film.
